Cash4Life NY

Cash4Life is a popular multi-jurisdictional lottery played across nine US states. The participating Cash4Life states are New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, Georgia, Indiana and Florida.

Cash4Life draws are held daily at 21:00 Eastern Time. Ticket sales close 15 minutes before the draw and resume immediately afterward.

Cash4Life tickets cost $2.00. To enter, choose five numbers between 1 and 60, including a Cash Ball number between 1 and 4, or go for a Quick Pick for randomly generated numbers.

Cash4Life has a subscription entry feature to enter multiple draws at once, while the Play It Again option lets players easily replay previously chosen numbers within 30 days of initial purchase.

Jackpot

The Cash4Life jackpot is fixed "for life" at $1,000 per day, with the second prize being fixed "for life" at $1,000 per week.

Due to the nature of the Cash4Life draw, there are no rollovers.

Odds and Prizes

The odds of winning the Cash4Life jackpot are 1 in 21,846,048, with players also able to win prizes at nine different tiers.

Payout and Taxes

Lottery prizes over $5,000 are subject to 9% state tax in New York plus 24% federal tax. Residents of New York City are also required to pay an additional 4% municipal tax.

Other participating states have their own tax rules, while overseas players pay flat 30% federal tax. Players from abroad should also check local tax laws to find out if additional taxes are applicable at home.

The Cash4Life jackpot and its second prize can be paid out as a lump sum if desired, at $7 million for the jackpot and $1 million for the second prize, with daily and weekly prizes being paid out over approximately 20 years.

Who Can Play Cash4Life?

Players must be at least 18 years of age to buy lottery tickets in the state of New York, which when sold in certain locations such as bars, can only be sold to people of at least 21.

The minimum age of 18 is the same across all nine participating Cash4Life states.

Cash4Life tickets can be purchased from authorized lottery outlets across New York, with direct website sales currently being unavailable; however, the official New York Lottery website and its corresponding app do have features to help scan tickets for possible wins, choose numbers, etc.

Players from around the world can play Cash4Life online via selected Lottery Agent websites.

History of Cash4Life

Cash4Life was launched on June 16, 2014, with New York and New Jersey being the original participating states. Pennsylvania, Virginia and Tennessee joined Cash4Life in 2015, with Maryland, Georgia and Indiana joining in 2016. Florida was the most recent state to join, in 2017.

Cash4Life draws were originally held twice weekly prior to becoming a daily draw.
