Quiniela de Montevideo

Quiniela de Montevideo is Uruguay’s main Quiniela game and one of the country’s most popular lotteries.

Draws are held twice a day from Monday to Friday at 15:00 and 21:00 local time and on Saturdays at 21:00 local time.

Entry costs a minimum of UYU 8.00, with players able to split this stake across three different prizes if they wish, e.g.; UYU 3.00 for two prizes and UYU 2.00 for one prize.

To enter Quiniela de Montevideo, players must first choose their type of bet by matching 1, 2 or all 3 numbers in the correct order. Once this decision has been made, players must choose their numbers from 0 to 9 or go for a Quick Pick for random selections, and because numbers are chosen independently, it is possible to choose the same number more than once.

Players must then choose how many prizes they wish to bet on winning. Twenty numbers are drawn, with players able to bet on matching the first three numbers only, or up to all 20.

Finally, players must choose their stake and how they wish to distribute this across the prizes that they hope to win.

Jackpot

Players who successfully bet on matching all three numbers in order will win 500 times their stake; however, the jackpot will also depend on the number of prizes that are bet against.

If a player stakes UYU 100 to be spread across the first five numbers drawn (e.g.; UYU 20 per stake, multiplied by 500) they would go on to win UYU 10,000.

Players who successfully bet on matching two numbers in the correct order will win 70 times their stake, with players who bet on one number, only winning 7 times their stake.

Odds and Prizes

The odds of winning the Quiniela de Montevideo jackpot are 1 in 1,000.

Due to the format of Quiniela de Montevideo, the odds of winning secondary prizes are also 1 in 1,000 for players who bet on matching all three numbers.

Players can also win by matching one or two digits in the correct order.

Prize Category Numbers Matched Winning Odds Winning Odds %
1 3 1 in 1,000 0.1
2 2 1 in 100 1
3 1 1 in 10 10

Payout and Taxes

Prize winners have 30 days to make a claim, with prizes being paid out as lump sums only.

Prizes exceeding UYU 100,000 are subject to 12% tax, which must be declared to the relevant authorities.
