Lotto Max

Lotto Max is one of three popular national lottery games played in Canada.

Entry to Lotto Max costs CAD 5.00, which grants players three entries into the draw. There are two Lotto Max draws per week on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 19:30 Pacific Time/22:30 Eastern Time.

To enter Lotto Max, choose seven numbers between 1 and 50. Players can also choose the Quick Pick option to generate seven numbers at random. After making a selection or going for Quick Pick, tickets automatically receive two additional Quick Picks, for a total of three entries.

Players can also enter the Extra game for an additional CAD 1.00. Extra players are allocated four randomly generated numbers between 1 and 99. Players win the CAD 500,000 jackpot by matching all four numbers.

When the Lotto Max jackpot reaches CAD 50 million, tickets are automatically entered into another draw called MaxMillions.

MaxMillions players can win several CAD 1 million prizes!

Jackpot

Lotto Max guarantees a minimum jackpot of CAD 10 million.

There is a jackpot cap of CAD 70 million, but no rollover cap. Once Lotto Max reaches its jackpot cap, the prize fund rolls down to lower prize tiers. Players matching five, six, or six numbers plus the bonus ball, can win even more significant prizes than usual.

The maximum jackpot has been won on two occasions, on January 7, 2020, and February 25, 2020.

Odds and Prizes

The odds of winning the Lotto Max jackpot are 1 in 33,294,800.

These odds compare well to other lotteries around the world. However, they are not as attractive as Lotto 6/49, another Canadian national lottery that sometimes offers similar jackpot amounts.
